REAL Fathers Project
Engagement of stakeholders in implementing REAL Fathers project
Our success story came from orientation meeting whereby the clan leader right away started practicing the integration of REAL fathers intervention in their programming/work plan as per the testimony below:
Araki Clan General Meeting. One of the clan leaders (Araki), in charge of education and training participated in the recently conducted orientation meeting on REAL Fathers at the district headquarters of Dokolo district. She pledged to introduce REAL Fathers to her clan in a general clan meeting which was upcoming. She then extended an invitation to the SPWO and the DPO to the meeting. The meeting took place on Monday 26th August, 2024 in Dokolo Town Council at the home of one of their chiefs. In attendance were more than 1,000 people – members of the clan. REAL Fathers was given 2 hours for a sensitization session on the intervention. The SPWO and DPO both made powerful and moving presentations on REAL Fathers to the amazement and learning of members of Araki clan in attendance. This was by far the biggest platform REAL Fathers had ever been blessed with in Dokolo district.
Another invitation was already extended to the duo to prepare to train the executives of the clan, which is the top most/supreme decision-making organ of the clan, headed by the Clan Chief, better known in Lango as ‘Awi-Tong’. The day and date shall be shared with the clan chief himself in the near future. REAL Fathers – Dokolo looks forward to this yet another opportunity to change the lives and destiny of families in Dokolo, and shall never hesitate to grab it with both hands and make the best use of it.
Secondly, with the mentor’s training and inception visit done for young fathers, there are positive behavioural changes among the young father and mentors as reported and observed in play and making of play materials, presence of young fathers in homes and with their children, reduced alcohol intake and peace and harmony in homes. In Ngetta wards, Mr. Oguma Sam ID -ANLIR34668 confess transformation in his life after mentor visiting him twice and he had decided to separate with his wife but because of the training he received, he had to give a second chance and he can now come confidently in public and was willing to work on his behaviour.
